(Int J Obstet Anesth. 2015;24:210–216) Postoperative multimodal regimens like oral opioid-acetaminophen combination drugs can produce adverse maternal opioid-related side effects. Uncoupling these 2 drugs and administering them separately on a scheduled basis (acetaminophen plus as-needed opioids) may thereby be advantageous and lead to decreased opioid use. In the present study, the authors compared opioid use for scheduled acetaminophen plus as-needed opioid regimens with as-needed opioid-acetaminophen combination drug regimens.
