K 7 MgY 2 (B 5 O 10 ) 3 : a novel ultraviolet nonlinear optical crystal based on the [B 5 O 10 ] functional unit

A combination of alkali metal, alkaline earth, and rare earth cations was introduced into the borate system through a chemical co-substitution strategy, enabling the successful synthesis of a novel NCS crystal, K 7 MgY 2 (B 5 O 10 ) 3 , belonging to the A( i ) 7 M( ii )RE( iii ) 2 (B 5 O 10 ) 3 family.
