Protective casting in continuous casting of bearing steel

Some of protective casting methods in the continuous casting of bearing steel are described. The results of industrial tests show that secondary oxidation of liquid steel at the initial stage of casting process is a major factor for the increasing oxygen content of steel.The protective casting methods can decrease additional oxygen in steel substantially and the oxygen content of beering steel billets can be reduced below 10×10~(-6).
