The development,characteristics and materials of nanofiltration were presented in this paper.The separation model and pollution mechanism of nanofiltration was emphatically described followed by the review of the applications of nanofiltration in food, dyestuff industry, biochemical pharmacy, water treatment and wastewater treatment.
