Progress in production of levulinic acid from biomass

As the exhaustion of unrenewable resources,it has become the global attention focus in producing fuel and chemicals from renewable biomass resource. Levulinic acid,which can be produced from biomass,is an important platform compound having high reactivity and extensive uses. In this paper,the production of levulinic acid from biomass is reviewed,including the issues with catalysis and purification.
