The feasibility of crude oil removal from oily sludge and sands by ultrasonic treatment was studied. The influences of the ultrasonic power, detergent, the working temperature of the process, fineness of the solid phase on the deoiling rate of oily sludge and sands were investigated by KQ100DB ultrasonic cleaner.A schematic diagram of the ultrasonic process for crude oil removal from oily sludge and sands was given. The results indicated that the deoiling rate for SLYS sample was 96.5% with ultrasonic method at 50℃ for 30 min, which was higher than the deoiling rate of 22.7% with stirring method. For the small particles JSYN,the deoiling rate was enhanced from 28.0%(stirring 150min) to 92.3%(ultrasound 60min).The ultrasonic treatment process,in technology feasible and economy advantageous, may be an alternative to the presently used industrial equipment for oil separation from the oily sludge and sands.
