Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome Presenting with Intussusception: Report of Three Cases

Adult intussusception is occasionally encountered as a cause of acute intestinal obstruction. Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS) with gastrointestinal polyposis is rarely seen as a cause of adult intussusception. We report cases of PJS in three men who were 31, 20 and 17 years old. They had typical clinical presentations of mucocutaneous pigmentation and intestinal obstruction, and image findings of intussusception. Keeping this typical presentation in mind, the clinician can make an accurate pre-operative diagnosis and arrange intraoperative endoscopic polypectomy to reduce the need for repeated laparotomies.
