摘要
Abstract Access to the elusive UV solar-blind region based on direct second-harmonic generation (SHG) enabled by a non-traditional π-conjugated cation-based phosphate crystal is reported by Chi Zhang and co-workers in their Communication on page 14806. The rare coexistence of UV solar-blind-region phase-matchable optical nonlinearity and anisotropy, including wide UV transparency, large SHG response, and sufficient birefringence, can be attributed to the introduction of π-conjugated cations and their favorable collaboration with phosphate anions.
