Iron-photocatalyzed desulfurizing chlorination with seawater

A desulfurizing chlorination of aryl thioethers was developed by harvesting chloride from seawater via iron-photocatalysis to afford aryl chlorides. The utilization of natural seawater and gram-scale reaction demonstrated its practicability.
