Reversible data hiding in binary images using built-in checkcode

Data hiding has been widely investigated as a viable method for multimedia authentication, numerous data hiding method in images have been proposed during the past two decades. Reversible data hiding refers to data hiding applications where the host media can be partially or completely reconstructed. Although such method possesses advantageous characteristics in applications, its development is faced with numerous obstacles. Little effort has been made to develop method for reversible hiding information in binary images, the existing method either have unsatisfactory capacity or require additional information. It is challenging work that have significant potential. In this paper, we propose a novel high-capacity reversible data hiding in binary images. The recovery of original image is conducted with the aid of auxiliary data hidden. The experiments show the fidelity of host images after data hiding is very high, and data hiding capacity is as high as 0.5 per pixel, and recovery rate of original image is almost above 60%.
