The Opportunity Cost of Resident Involvement in Academic Orthopedic Sports Medicine

For many types of surgical cases there is an increase in operative time with the participation of a resident physician. The purpose of this study is to quantify the opportunity cost for intraoperative resident participation during common orthopedic sports medicine surgical cases in the academic setting.
