In this paper, dynamic strain sensing of cantilevered beam is measured by CNT based strain sensor. MATLAB simulations are performed to compare the performance of CNT strain sensor with conventional strain sensors. It has been observed that for lower strain levels performance of CNT strain sensor is far superior to strain gauge. Experimental set up consists of cantilevered beam on which CNT strain sensor–strain gauge pair is fixed near its root in a collocated fashion. An arrangement is made to displace the beam by 1mm, 2 mm and 3 mm. In comparison to strain gauge, change in resistance of CNT sensor is predominant. The superior performance of CNT strain sensor compared to conventional strain sensors are demonstrated.
