Synthesis, Characterization and Crystal Structure of a Two-dimensional (2-D) Honeycomb-like Silver(I) Coordination Polymer with a Flexible Trithioether Ligand

A new Ag~Ⅰ complex based on a flexible trithioether ligand (L, namely 1,3,5-tri(phenylthio-methyl)-2,4,6-trimethylbenzene), {[Ag_3(L)_2(ClO_4)_2](ClO_4)}_∞ (1), has been synthesized and structurally characterized by means of elemental analysis, infrared (IR) spectra and X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 crystallizes in monoclinic crystal system, C2/c space group with a=3.493 1(7) nm, b=2.158 4(8) nm, (c=)2.878 2(4) nm, β=123.688(10)~o, V=18.056(3) nm~3, Z=8. There are three crystallographically independent Ag~Ⅰ ions in the asymmetric unit of complex 1, one of which is four-coordinated and the other two exhibit the linear coordination modes. Each ligand links three adjacent Ag~Ⅰ ions with its three sulfur donors, resulting in a nearly hexagonal 48-membered macrocyclic repeating unit that consists of six metal ions and six ligands. The most notable feature of 1 resides in the formation an infinite honeycomb-like two-dimensional (2-D) (6,3) coordination network with such repeating units.
