Design on mechanical brake and electromagnetic brake of mining flatbed car

Based on the operation mode of car stopping during auxiliary transportation process in Baidong Coal Industry Co., Ltd. of Datong Coal Mine Group, the paper designed the mechanical brake and the electromagnetic brake for the flatbed car. Thus, the braking distance of the flatbed car was less than 20 m in the maximum loading mode, which was contributive to effectively prevent the car accident. The brakes were characterized by simple manufacture and low cost, their application possessed important valve for enhancing the reliability and security of the flatbed car.
