The function of counter electrode of dye-sensitized solar cells is briefly introduced,and the development of Pt counter electrode,Ni counter electrode,polymer counter electrode and CuO counter electrode are presented. Carbon materials with high electrical properties and good catalytic properties may be used to prepare counter electrode of dye-sensitized solar cells.In this paper,the preparing processes and performance parameters of carbon materials counter electrode are indicated in detail.In compared with other counter electrodes,it is found that the counter electrodes prepared by carbon materials are high electrical conductivity,and its photo-electron conversion efficiency is up to 90%of those of Pt electrodes.Furthermore,counter electrodes from carbon are low in price,which will contribute to potential development In present,carbon counter electrodes are the important research subject in the field of dye-sensitized solar cells.
