Re( i )-catalyzed C–C and C–S bond formation via regioselective C(sp 2 )–H hydroalkylation and hydrothiolation

A Re( i )-catalysed dual hydroalkylation method enables Markovnikov-selective O–C(sp 2 )–H functionalisation of phenols and anti-Markovnikov hydroalkylation of thiophenols. Biologically important phenols also undergo efficient ortho -functionalisation.
