Real-world impact of AUD pharmacotherapy on healthcare utilization, cost, and cost-effectiveness in the United States

AUD pharmacotherapy is significantly associated with lower alcohol-associated healthcare utilization, particularly IP care, and medical charges in real-world settings, with the largest economic benefits observed in patients without advanced liver disease. These findings support broader implementation of pharmacologic treatment for AUD, including in patients with ALD, and underscore the importance of early intervention to maximize cost-effectiveness.
