摘要
Allosteric DNA-based nanodevices can transiently load and release small organic molecules (ATP and cocaine). In their Communication on page 5582 ff., F. Ricci, L. J. Prins, and co-workers demonstrate that allostery, despite being generally considered as a thermodynamic equilibrium phenomenon, offers a key strategy for the rational design of out-of-equilibrium synthetic devices. These results provide a new and exciting approach towards the development of functional dissipative systems.
