Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of retention-enema with compound dragon’s blood on ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods Published papers on compound dragon’s blood and its preparation for retention enema treatment of UC were searched completely in domestic journals by computerization plus manpower. All the literature was assessed via The Jadad quality standards and RevMan(5.1.7.0) software was used to evaluate the results of the total effect of Meta-analysis.Sensitivity analysis was also done.Funnel-plot analysis was used to identify the publication bias. Results Six reports including 678 patients were identified in this Meta-analysis.Of the six reports, three were highly qualitative in methodology, and the other three were of low quality.Meta-analysis results showed retention-enema in the treatment of UC: OR = 3.08,95% CI(1.29,7.40),z = 2.52,P 0.05.Trial groups were better than control groups and the differences between them were statistically significant.Sensitivity analysis showed that the evaluation result was stable and funnel figure graphics was symmetrical, which suggested the possible existence of publication bias. Conclusion Retention-enema with compound dragon’s blood is therapeutically effective on UC.
