Objective: To investigate the role of amylin and ADMA in the hypertensive patients with insulin resistance(IR).Methods: We selected 50 cases of essential hypertension, and classified them as essential hypertension with insulin resistance(EH with IR,27),and as essential hypertension without insulin resistance(EH without IR,23) by using homeostatic model assessment IR(HOMA-IR).Another 20 healthy individuals were selected as the control group. We determined the serum level of insulin, blood glucose, blood lipid, plasma amylin and ADMA and investigated the relationship between hypertension with insulin resistance and amylin and ADMA.Results: The plasma level of amylin in essential hypertension with insulin resistance(EH with IR) and hypertension without insulin resistance(EH without IR)was higher than that in the normal controls,(0.49±0.62)mg/L、(0.46±0.63)mg/L and(0.41±0.36)mg/L(P0.05);The plasma level of ADMA in essential hypertension with insulin resistance(EH with IR) and hypertension without insulin resistance(EH without IR)was higher than that in the normal controls,(1.51± 0.78)μg/L、(1.46±0.72)μg/L and(1.28±0.6)μg/L(P0.05).The correlation analysis showed there was a positive correlation between amylin and IR.There was a significantly positive correlation between IR and the plasma level of amylin in essential hypertension with insulin resistance(EH with IR)(r=0.673;P0.01),IR was positively correlated with the plasma level of amylin in essential hypertension with insulin resistance(EH with IR) (r=0.410;P0.05),with no correlation with EH without IR,and there was a positive correlation between amylin and ADMA(r=0.390;P0.05).Conclusion:The plasma levels of amylin and ADMA were significantly correlated with IR.The expression of plasma amylin and ADMA may be closely related to the development of hypertension and insulin resistance.
