High‐Efficacy Double‐Effect Sunscreen: Phellodendron Sunscreen Liposome and ZIF‐8/OMC Composite

ABSTRACT In recent years, the market share of sunscreen has been increasing. Due to the flaws in some sunscreens on the market, skin safety issues related to sunscreen use are frequent. However, ordinary sunscreen has the disadvantages of limited UV wavelength, short sun protection time, high skin irritation, etc. In this work, the traditional Chinese medicine Phellodendron has a particular ability to absorb ultraviolet rays. It is used to synthesize a mild and skin‐friendly Phellodendron sunscreen liposome, which not only protects against the sun but also has a specific sedative and soothing effect on the UV‐irradiated skin. At the same time, a new type of nano‐material, metal–organic framework ZIF‐8, is used to wrap the common sunscreen in the market, such as OMC, which can reduce the skin irritation of chemical sunscreen and enhance its sun protection effect. The physical and chemical double‐effect anti‐UV sunscreen was prepared by using the above‐mentioned materials. The quality, efficacy, sensory, and other aspects of the prepared sunscreen were systematically evaluated, with the hope of providing new ideas for the preparation of sunscreen by using plant activity.
