A hexagonal-triangular-shaped metamaterial absorber with a hexagonal slot is presented in this paper for the visible and infrared regions. This absorber is based on double layer Si and SiO2substrate and Tungsten layer metallic design. The metamaterial absorber has been designed using CST microwave studio and studied for the visible and infrared regions. The developed absorber has achieved a maximum absorbance of 98.16% at 478.85 nm with an average absorbance of 82.65% over the 400 – 1200 nm wavelength. The absorbance has also been studied up to 60° incidence angle, from where it is revealed that the average absorption is highest at an incidence angle of 45°.
