Two new steroidal saponins from the roots and rhizomes of Helleborus thibetanus

Two new steroidal saponins, designated thibetanoside O and P (1 and 2), were isolated from the roots and rhizomes of Helleborus thibetanus Franch. Their structures were elucidated using various chromatographic and spectroscopic methods, such as 1D/2D NMR, HR-ESI-MS, and GC. Additionally, their cytotoxicity against three human cancer cell lines (A549, H460, and HepG2) was evaluated using the CCK8 assay. However, the compounds exhibited no significant activity.
