Student engagement with critical-thinking assignments fosters the development of skills required for lifelong learning. The Qualtrics platform, known for its survey capabilities, was adapted to create interactive online course activities. This study assesses student engagement and likability for eight customized online modules in Qualtrics for an undergraduate infectious disease course. These learning modules provided synthesis and application questions about journal readings, news articles, disease transmission, process of diagnosis, treatments, and mechanisms of infection. Students who completed the online activities responded positively about their experience. Their reflections about using Qualtrics and time spent engaging with activities suggest that the platform may serve as a helpful customizable tool for instructors of various science courses looking to provide immersive learning experiences.
