Principle,Components and Performance of Shewanella Fuel Cell

Microbial fuel cell(MFC) with functions of wastewater treatment,electricity generation and bioelectrochemistry research,has a broad prospect for its application.As the earliest developed mediator-less MFC,Shewanella fuel cell has already been studied extensively and systematically,so it can be taken as a good example to investigate other MFCs.This paper reviews the biological principles,components of Shewanella fuel cell,and its performances in wastewater treatment and electricity generation,and finally sheds light on its development prospects.
