Laser-based phosphor-converted white light sources are currently being investigated for general-purpose high-brightness illumination. However, the spectral bandwidth and other colorimetric parameters are poor. We report the development of a laser-based multiphosphor-converted white light source for illumination purposes. We achieved a continuous broadband sunlike full spectrum (SFS) for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. By combining multiple phosphors (cyan (C), green (G), yellow (Y), red (R), and deep red (D)) with appropriate concentrations, we could achieve a full spectrum with a flat peak. The developed light source has the ability to accomplish correlated color temperature (CCT) from 6000 to 4000 K (cool white to warm white), with color rendering indices (CRIs) >97, luminous efficacy >100 lm/W, and blue hazard efficiency ≤0.15. The reported SFS light source is closely matched with daylight having high CRI, and CCT is unique in terms of illumination, which is most comfortable for human vision.
