Two-dimensional MXenes have attracted great attention in various fields due to the excellent property and adjustability of surface, interlayer, and components. Lots of synthesis methods have been proposed to obtain high-quality MXenes including top-down and bottom-up strategies. At present, researchers are pursuing not only to get high-quality MXenes, but also with high operational security. Therefore, lots of efforts have been spent on the development of low-temperature and F-free synthesis methods. And some of the methods are promising to safely achieve MXenes with high controllability, high yield, and high quality. In this chapter, we summarize recent strategies for synthesizing MXenes under LT and F-free environment, together with offering guidelines during the LT F-free synthesis, and inspire more protocols for obtaining fluorine-free MXenes.
