Benefiting from the capability of providing a certain phase gradient on the interface between two media, metasurfaces have shown great promise for controlling the outgoing electromagnetic (EM) waves arbitrarily. In some applications, both phase and amplitude profiles are required simultaneously. Here, we propose a new type of metasurface with both phase and amplitude modulations, which is composed of C-shaped particles. The designed metasurface can shape reflected beams flexibly. Meanwhile, the intensities of the reflected beams can be modulated independently using both amplitude and phase responses.
