Abstract In the present paper, we report a novel synthetic method, based on a hydrothermal process, for the synthesis of La 0.66 TiO 2.993 . The synthesized La 0.66 TiO 2.993 was characterized by techniques such as XRD, IR, SEM, XPS and chemical analyses. The results indicated that the phase corresponded to orthorhombic perovskite-type La 0.66 TiO 2.993 , and the product had a narrower particle size which was about 300 nm. The effect of hydrothermal condition was examined. It was found that the optimum hydrothermal condition was that crystallization temperature, KOH/Ti ratio and La/Ti ratio were 260 °C, 80 and 0.7, respectively.
