4-(ο-Methoxyphenoxymethyl)-1, 3-dioxolan-2-one (IV), Which was prepared by the condensation of 3-(ο-methoxyphenoxy)-1, 2-propanediol (II) with ethyl chlorocarbonate, was converted into 3-(ο-methoxyphenoxy)-1, 2-propanediol 1-carbamate (I) by treatment with liquid ammonia in ethanol. 3-(ο-Methylphenoxy)-1, 2-propanediol 1-carbamate (IVa) was also synthesized from Ia via dioxolanone derivative (IIa)."
