A ring equipment with a clapboard is used to evaluate the cracking resistant behavior of mortar. If mortar ring cracks in 28d,the age when the initial crack appears is used to evaluated to the cracking resistant behavior of mortar. If mortar ring doesn't crack in 28d,the cracking index is used to evaluated to the cracking resistant behavior of mortar. The cracking index is directly proportional to the opening width at the position of the clapboard and the elastic modulus of concrete, and is inversely proportional to the tensile strength of concrete. The opening width at the position of the clapboard involves the restraint, the shrinkage and the creep of concrete. The smaller the cracking index, the better the cracking resistant behavior of mortar. The test results reveal that the proposed method can evaluate the the cracking resistant behavior of mortar correctly.
