Five Zang Organs Correlation in Motor Neuron Disease

Objective To study the interactional regularities of five Zang organs in patients with motor neuron disease(MND).Methods The data of traditional Chinese medicine syndromes about 161 MND patients were collected from the medical record room of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.A canonical correlation analysis was carried out on five Zang organs related syndromes using SAS statistical software.Results According to the direct effects of two Zang organs,the direct path coefficients of heart-lung,and spleen-kidney were larger,i.e.,0.853 9,and 0.740 3,respectively;and followed by those of lung-kidney,heart-lung,and spleen-kidney,i.e.,-0.493 0,0.344 4,and 0.291 9,respectively.According to indirect effects of three Zang organs,the indirect path coefficients of lung-kidney-heart,spleen-lung-kidney,kidney-heart-lung,spleen-kidney-heart,heart-lung-kidney,liver-spleen-lung,kidney-heart-spleen,liver-spleen-kidney,and heart-spleen-lung were larger,i.e.,-0.421 0,-0.365 0,0.294 1,0.249 3,-0.169 8,0.040 3,0.017 5,0.015 9,and 0.015 2,respectively.Conclusion The correlations of heart-kidney and spleen-lung are the closest between two Zang organs;and the correlations of lung-kidney-heart,spleen-lung-kidney,kidney-heart-lung,spleen-kidney-heart,heart-lung-kidney,liver-spleen-lung,kidney-heart-spleen,liver-spleen-kidney,and heart-spleen-lung are the closest among three Zang organs.The smallest indirect effects of four or five Zang organs might be due to the characteristics of MND.
