Research Advancement of the Present and the Future of Palatoplasty

Cleft palate is one of the most common malformation in oromaxillo-facial region,and surgical repair is the best treament so far.Since the two-flap palatoplasty was reported by Von Langenbeck in 1861,palatoplaty had been the main surgical treatment for cleft palate,and a number of repair surgery developed accordingly,making it better to close the cleft,recover the soft palate and reduce the influence to the maxillofacial region.In this article,the present situation and the advancement of palatoplasty were reviewed.
