The Marriages of the SU Families and the Struggles Among Political Parties in the Song Dynasty

The marriages of the SU families in the late Song Dynasty were somewhat connecte d with the political inclinations of the brothers, SU Shi and SU Zhe. Their atti titude towards marriage in some sense reflected their political inclinations to oppose the new laws or remained neutral during the political reform. So they wer e tied down in the struggles among political parties and banished from the cou rt. Some were fined or their works were destroyed under these circumstances. The members of the SU families went through thick and thin together in the politica l struggles and made great efforts for the development of the clan.
