A Study of Plot Modes of Treasure Description in Ming-Qing Novels

There are four plot modes of treasure description in Ming-Qing novels.1.Being trapped-finding the treasure-getting out of dangermode,which displays the good luck of the hero to get the treasure,and the chance for the treasure to emerge,to be obtained and to be applied,which was brought about by the very suffering of him.2.In the mode oflooking for the treasure——fighting for the treasure——succeeding in getting it,looking for the treasure and fighting for the treasure are the prelude to the treasure competition,constituting a complete story genre combined with the hero’s good fortune and accomplishment.3.Giving the treasure(borrowing the treas-ure)——doing rescue——repulsing enemiesmode,which shows the importance that the hero was protected by the god and fairy.4.Losing the treasure(stealing the treasure)-misapplying the treasure——returning the treas-uremode,which describes the treasure loss of the virtuous person and the evils produced by the misapplication of the person who is not supposed to use it and the return of the treasure to its owner after many setbacks with the treasure robber being finally vanquished.
