Research and Actualization of High Speed Flywheel Energy Storage System

Flywheel energy storage system uses flywheel acceleration and deceleration rotation to achieve the inter conversion of electrical energy and mechanical energy,it is an emerging energy storage technology. A high speed flywheel energy storage system for electric power systems was developed. The system mainly includes flywheel for energy storage,bearing for support the flywheel,high speed permanent magnet motor for electromechanical energy conversion and bidirectional converter for exchange energy with the power grid. The overall control strategy for high speed flywheel energy storage system,control of the grid side converter,design of high-performance LCL filter,and flux-weakening control of high speed permanent magnet synchronous motor were studied. High speed flywheel energy storage system accelerating energy storage test and decelerating energy release test were carried out,and results of the test were analyzed.
