Advances in regulation of nuclear factor-κB activation by traditional Chinese medicines

NF-κB is a kind of transcription factors which exists widely in eucaryotic cells. It acts an important role in many diseases such as cancer, inflammation, autoimmune diseases and so on. Many researchers had done the job on the NF-κB activity adjusting mechanisms of Chinese traditional medicines on cell and molecule level, and the results showed that there were actually active components which could adjust the NF-κB activity existing in the Chinese traditional medicines being correlative with NF-κB diseases. As a result, Chinese traditional medicines can become the natural resources reservoir to select the NF-κB activity inhibitors. In the text, we review on the Chinese herbal extracts, the Chinese herbal ingredients, the single Chinese traditional medicine and the Compound Chinese traditional medicine which had NF-κB activity inhibition effects.
