Objective To investiate the effect of different concentrations of serum triglyceride (TG) on the determination of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and look for a mehtods suitable for determinatio nof HDL-C at grass-roots laboratory. Methods TG、HDL-C in serum were determined by autobiochemical analyzer, and dilute serum specimen of high concentrations triglyceride specimen, and HDL-C was further detected by the methods of direct and precipitation, and the results of HDL-C were compared. Results There no difference was observed in determination of HDL-C between the 2 groups and the concentrations of serum TG was in the ranges of 1.69~4.00mmol/L. there significant difference was observed in determination of HDL-C as TG concentration was higher than 4.0mmol/L (P0.05). In determiantion of HDL-C befor and afer dilution of serum specimen significant differences were noticed as TG concentrations were higher than 6.00mmol/L; when HDL-C of diluted serum specimen was determined by identical methods, there was no difference among all with the methods of direct, there was difference as TG was higher than 4.01mmol/L with precipitation. Conclusion Significant differences in indetermination of concentration ofHDL-C with high TG level by precipitation and directly automatic methods have been observed, suggesting that HDL-C in the sera with high TG level should be determined by catalase HDL-C assay of directly automatic determination method.
