Effects of treatment of type 2 diabetes on gut microbiota

In recent years, more and more studies have shown that human gut microbiota was closely related to type 2 diabetes, which plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis and development of type 2 diabetes. Treatment of type 2 diabetes such as diet, exercise, hypoglycemic drugs and metabolic surgery can influence the structure and function of gut microbiota while lowering blood glucose. The change of gut microbiota may be one of the mechanisms that treatment of type 2 diabetes improve the body′s metabolic disorders. Key words: Type 2 diabetes mellitus; Gut microbiota
