Spectral properties of metal halide lamps with rare earth-iodide or Sc-iodide and sodium iodide

The spectral power distributions of metal halide lamps with rare earth metal iodides and sodium iodide were investigated. In a first approximation, the spectra vary linearly with the composition of the salt fillings. As a result optimal spectra and salt compositions can be calculated for certain lighting specifications.
