摘要
Steady-state simulation and optimization of Shell OMEGA process for the production of mono ethylene glycol were carried out using Honeywell UniSim Design. The material and energy requirement and productivity of the process were analyzed. The desired product, mono ethylene glycol was obtained with a purity of 99.6% without the formation of higher glycols. Parameter optimization was carried out using case studies available in Honeywell UniSim Design. Dynamic simulation of one of the distillation columns involved in the process was also developed to study the behavior of the system to various disturbances. Response of the system towards the servo and regulatory problems was also examined.
