DIMENSIONING OF RECEPTION BUILDINGS

At the normal railway station the reception building represents the railway. Its style and size are an expression of the need for customer services and of the undertaking's presentation of itself. The costs of the buildings urge consideration of rules for an appropriate size. For that purpose the criteria, the prevailing methods of dimensioning and dimensioning formulae as well as a new simple proposal for dimensioning are here explained. Such rules can only relate to the areas dependent on the traffic volume. Influences from the municipal building situation, architectural development and commercial utilization prevent an overall assessment.
