In this paper, polycarboxylce superplasticizer has been synthesized and the influences of molecular weight as well as polyoxyethylene side chain on the ratio of reducing water and loss of slump also have been studied detailedly. Compared with other types water reducer, the results show that polycarboxylic superplasticizer posses some superior characteristics, such as low admixing dosage, high water reduction, long time for keeping fluidity and no harmfulness to the human, hence this type reducer is a kind of promising superplasticizer. Action mechanisms in concrete also have been discussed.
