An investigation was made using self-made carbonization device to understand the shrinkage characteristics anthracite briquette containing binder and spheroidizer during carbonization, the micro heating stage and GC were employed to study the particle area which changed with increasing the temperature by means of image analysis on the micro-picture and regularity of pyrolysis gas generation respectively. The results show that the shrink peaks appear at about 150 ℃ and 600 ℃ during carbonization, and the carbonization is divided into five stages which are different from bituminous coal:the dry-warm-softening stage(480 ℃),the beginning of thermal decomposition(500~550 ℃),pyrolysis-bonding stage(550~600 ℃),solid-gel curing stage(600~630 ℃) and the curing coal contraction stage(600~900 ℃).The content of pyrolysis gas of CO2,C2H4,C2H6,CO and CH4reached 45.62%;at the beginning of fifth stage, the gas composed mainly of CH4 and H2,then in the end of carbonization, the gas mainly composed by H2.
