摘要
Recently, quantum dots (QDs) have been recognized as a new generation material and have useful and novel applications in material science and biomedical fields. QDs are zero-dimensional semiconductors with particle size less than 10 nm. Because of high fluorescence, narrow emission, high photostability, and broad UV excitation, quantum dots have versatile applications in commercial and bio application fields. Therefore, understanding the basic ideas of QDs is essential and important, and in this chapter, we have discussed the general properties, classification, synthesis method, and various applications of QDs in detail. This chapter will be a useful one for all the beginners in the field of QDs and nanotechnology.
