With the increasing serious problems related to greenhouse gas CO2, conversion of CO2 driven by renewable energy is considered as an ultimate solution to solve environment and energy issues. The techniques of CO2 conversion including electrocatalytic, photocatalytic, photoelectrocatalytic and bio-photoelectrocatalytic reduction have been extensively investigated, in which CO2 is used as feedstock and low-grade renewable energy is stored in the form of value-added chemicals or high-energy-density fuels. This review introduces the significant progress and achievements in the fields of the electro-, photo-and bio-conversion of CO2.The challenges and prospects for further development of CO2 conversion are also presented.
