[Objective]To evaluate the predictive value of Mycoplasma pneumonia (M.pneumoniae) DNA in tracheal secretions or IgM antibodies in the quick diagnosis of mycoplasma pneumonia.[Methods] Blood samples were collected form 100 sick children with the presence of M.pneumoniae DNA, who were admitted to our hospital during January 2009~Desenber 2009, for M.pneumoniae IgM antibody detection in order to compare the diagnostic results.[Results] Out of the 100 patients, 48 were confirmed as IgM positive, showing a positive rate of 48%.[Conclusion] Detecting presence of M.pneumoniae DNA in tracheal secretions is a quick way to diagnose mycoplasma pneumoniae, especially in early stage. It has even higher predictive value when combined with IgM antibody test.
