The northern hemisphere has been only slightly more active than in the last cycle. The average latitude of the sunspot groups in 1948 was 14?6 in the northern hemisphere and 14?0 in the southern. In 1947 the average latitude in the northern hemisphere was 17?4; in the southern 17?2.
