ABSTRACTAs a result of nanotechnological evolution, nanomaterials (NMs) have become pivotal to novel developments in all facets of human endeavors. As a result of their enchanting physically and chemically affiliated features, these NMs have garnered great attention in the industrial and academic segments and include single elemental mono-layered crystals, referred as Xenes (graphene, borophene, phosphorene and silicene), modified single-elemental and layered crystal derivatives referred as MXenes (M-X) (Ti2CO2, Ti3C2Tx, and Ti3C2), Xanes (graphene and borophane), transitional metallic halides (CrI3), semiconducting and insulating entities of groups III−V (boron nitride), transitional metallic dichalcogenides (TaSe2 and MoS2), organically−inorganically affiliated hybridized perovskites (Pb(C4H9NH3)2I4), as well as post-transitional metallic chalcogenides (GaS and GaSe). MXenes (M-X), amongst these NMs have attracted remarkable academic interests because of their prolific features as well as effective functionalization of polymeric matrices for enhanced flame retardancy, thermal, electromagnetic interference shielding (EMI SE), mechanical and electrochemical features.
