The authors performed a large-scale, multicenter retrospective study to evaluate the effect of perioperative oral care on surgical site infection (SSI) after surgery for colorectal cancer (CRC) by propensity score matching analysis. In their concluding statement, the authors demonstrated that perioperative oral care could reduce the incidence of surgical site infection after CRC resection. We would like to congratulate the authors for their significant study and insightful analysis. Because their findings are important, several questions deserve attention.
